In the present study, the melt with Nd(x)Sm(3-x)Fe5O12 composition was undercooled in an aerodynamic levitator and splat-quenched by copper anvils in order to obtain the metastable garnet phase with the lattice parameter greater than MLC (x = 0.38). X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) results indicated that the peak intensity of metastable garnet phase decreased with increasing the substitution x from 0.38 to 0.2 and finally disappeared at x = 2.2. The metastable garnet phase possessed the same composition as the starting composition. The maximum Nd substitution obtained using the splat quenching method was x = 2.0. 内容記述 | It is known that no rare earth iron garnet can form with a lattice parameter greater than 1.2540 nm which is Maximum Lattice Constant (MLC).
