This in turn has led to the recognition of fundamental aspects of statistical physics as an important area of microgravity experiments; that is, the pursuit of universal physical laws that cover both microscopic and macroscopic physical phenomena. Further, recent development of nanoscale sciences has led to the recognition that chemical and physical researches for realizing nano to meso scale structures are quite beneficial to create useful functional materials with spatially hierarchic structures. Given the way that space experimentation has developed as described above, it is the time to re-draw a scenario for utilizing the space environment for fundamental science through experimentation on the International Space Station (ISS).
