There is measured the mass M(sub ex) (excavation mass) of materials excavated by impact on glass sphere targets with different grain sizes. The excavation mass M(sub ex) is shown to be nearly M(sub ex) proportional to nu (nu is projectile's impact velocity), while, it depends on the projectile mass m as followed: M(sub ex)/nu proportional to m(sup 0.6 to 0.8). The present results also show that the excavation mass depends on the target grain sizes.
