The transmittance for crystalline forsterite (Mg2SiO4) particles and the reflectance for single crystalline forsterite, whose temperature range is from 300 to 10 K and wavelength range is from 5 to 100 micrometer, have been measured. The temperature dependences of the absorption and reflection features have been quantified. When the temperature decreases, the spectral features; (1) shift to shorter wavelength (2) increase intensity, and (3) become sharp, which are more noticeable for the features at longer wavelength. The wavelength of spectral peak positions can be the temperatures indicators to the environment where crystalline forsterite exists. The dielectric constants of crystalline forsterite have also been derived for each temperature, 300, 200, 100, and 50 K, by fitting the reflection spectra with dispersion formula of damped oscillators. Mass absorption efficiencies were provided from the dielectric constants by assuming the CDE model. The present measured spectra of crystalline forsterite are useful for analysis of astronomical studies of low temperature environments.
