To comprehend flow fields around the models in the tunnel, high speed schlieren images were obtained from wind tunnel startup, and surface pressure histories of the models were recorded. It was confirmed that the normal force of starting/stopping loads was reduced more than 30 percent at Mach 3.0 and higher if the model wing plane was set at 90 degrees to the nozzle plane of symmetry.
