Two types of convection which cause the flow disturbance in an electrophoresis chamber were studied. Numerical investigation on natural convection by Joule heat has proved that the flow field in the electrophoretic chamber is characterized by the Reynolds, the Grashof and the Prandtl numbers. It also has been found the critical condition where the convective flow arises is presented by a relationship between the Reynolds and the Grashof numbers. Electroosmotic convection combined with the natural one in a three-dimensional model was calculated.
