This paper proposes "Dual-Speed Data Transmission System (DSDTS)" and discusses the bit error rate for a PSK/FSK Dual-Speed Data Transmission System (PSK/FSK DSDTS) as well as the signal detection schemes. The DSDTS is devised to enable a small scale earth station to acquire a limited portion of data in the deep space exploration. The PSK/FSK DSDTS is an example of the proposed DSDTS. In this system, energy of some bit-intervals of PSK channel which is assigned to high speed channel is utilized to one bit energy of FSK channel which is assigned to a low speed channel for a small earth station. In this paper, nearly optimum signal detection schemes basing upon the Maximum A Posteriori Probability (MAP) method are constructed for PSK/FSK DSDTS. The formulations of bit error probability for each channel according to these dectectors are also introduced.
