A fiber-reinforced plastic rocket chamber was designed and manufactured by using a filament-winding technique with high specific strength and stiffness carbon fibers. This was launched successfully as a kickmotor for M-3H-3 rocket to put the scientific satellite EXOS-B (JIKIKEN) in a long elliptical orbit and played the function meeting our expectations in September in 1977. The developmental research work, especially on the theoretical analyses for structural optimal design and the various kinds of experimental results are described in the present paper.
