Overset grid support of parallel CFD platform UPACS
An overset grid support code is developed based on UPACS (Unified Platform for Aerospace Computational Simulation). UPACS is the parallel CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) platform for multi-block grids which NAL (National Aerospace Laboratory) is developing for the purpose of the efficient CFD programming and the aggregation of the CFD technology of NAL. In this research overset grids are classified as a major grid which is covering the entire area of the given problem, and minor grids which are supposed to be put around objects in the major grid. The communication of the values due to the overset grids are performed between the major and minor grids. The current program does not support moving or transforming grids. The index creation program developed in the research creates the information about the interpolations between overset grids. Additional routines, which read the information of overset grid communication and perform the communication, are added to the solver. A simple CFD problem is set up and the influence of the spatial relations between overset grids on the computational results is evaluated.
