There is a long-lasting debate about the structure of the wake behind a sphere. It is insisted that the wake is composed of a successive circular vortex ring. Conflicting opinion is that the wake is something like a screw with axis in the flow direction. The present research was carried out for contributing to the debate. The flow was observed in a water tunnel by the hydrogen bubble technique. The hot-wire flow meter was also employed. The Reynolds number covers from 100 to 1,000. In order to obtain more general view, flows behind a flat circular disk and behind an axisymmetrical stream-line body. The tentative answer to the flow question is that both kinds of wake structure are possible depending on the mode of residual disturbance in the flow.
