As a satellite positioning system in the next generation, positioning-communication combined system which offers not only positioning service like the GPS, but the simultaneous service of positioning and mobile communication are required from the viewpoint of the civilian use. The synchronous positioning system proposed in this study are suited for this complex system, and are effective when the smallest scale positioning system is constructrd. In this study, the possible communication system for a combined use of positioning and communication and the functional combination of positioning and communication are discussed: (1) by applicating weighted least square method, the positioning algorithm to be uniformly applicable to non-synchronous and synchronous positioning case were introduced; (2) by using precise clock synchronizing and ranging information between radio stations, the spread spectrum communication line were multiplexed, and the communication through selected earth station by the mobile station were enabled; and (3) as future satellite positioning system, it was indicated that the billing in proportion to the utilization frequency of the communication are possible by utilizing positioning-communication combined satellite system which simultaneously offers the mobile communication service, and cost reduction is possible by utilizing clock synchronization.
