The survival rate after 8-day space flight was remarkably low in the 0-day-old embryos. This may result from damaged embryo development and serosa formation by the placental lobe sunk into the albumen because the specific gravity difference between the albumen and vitelus, which is important for embryo development, has no meaning under zero gravity. The effects of zero gravity on the 7- and 10-day-old chick embryos were examined by collecting the tissues after incubation. Histologically observing the results indicates that, at the late incubation stage, skeleton formation may progress under zero gravity. It also indicates that the effects of zero gravity on the muscle system may cause wide and sparse interstitial muscle tissues, increased muscle fibers, and inhibited intracellular microorgan development. Although the Soviet Union and United States joint experiment reported significantly inhibited bone formation in adult rats, this experiment showed normal bone formation and resorption under zero gravity. This is probably because: (1) 7- and 10-day-old chick embryos where bone formation is greater than bone resorption are different from adult animals where bone formation and resorption are not so different; (2) there is no mechanical stress on the bone tissues of 7- and 10-day-old chick embryos because they are floating in the eggs; and (3) the experimental period is shorter than that of the 内容記述 | 長期宇宙飛行において宇宙飛行士に見られる骨密度の著明な減少、尿中へのカルシウム排泄の増加など無重力の宇宙空間の影響を調べることを目的として、発生段階の異なる(0,7,10日齢)30個の鶏胚をスペースシャトル・エンデバーに搭載し、鶏胚の初期発生(0日齢)とカルシウム代謝(7,10日齢)に及ぼす無重力の影響の調査実験を行った。8日間の飛行後回収した鶏胚の生存率では、0日齢がきわめて低い値を示した。この原因として無重力で受精卵が孵卵した場合には、胚発生に重要な意味を持つ卵白と卵黄の比重差が意味をなさなくなり、胚盤葉が卵白内に沈んでしまって、鶏胚の発生と漿尿膜の形成が影響を受けたものと思われる。次ぎに7日齢および10日齢の鶏胚に対する無重力の影響について孵化後の組織を採取して検査した結果、骨格系に対する組織学的観察では骨格形成が孵卵後期においては無重力下でも正常に発育するのではないかと考えられた。また筋肉系に対する無重力の影響として筋肉組織の間質が広く疎な傾向が見られ、筋繊維も増加傾向にあり、細胞内小器官の発達の抑制傾向が認められた。ソ連-アメリカの共同実験で報告された成熟ラットの骨形成が顕著に抑制されたのと異なり、今回の実験で無重力状態で骨形成と骨吸収が正常に行われていた原因として考えられるのは、7、10日齢の鶏胚は骨吸収よりむしろ骨形成の盛んなモデリングの状態にあり、骨吸収と骨形成を行う成熟動物のリモデリング状態とは異なること、7、10日齢の鶏胚は卵の中に浮遊した状態にあり骨組織に対してメカニカルストレスがまったく無い状態にあること、今回の実験期間がソ連-アメリカの共同研究より短い、などの理由が考えられた。 | |||||

内容記述 | For understanding the effects of zero gravity on obviously decreased bone density and increased urinary calcium excretion in the astronauts during long-term space flight, 30 chick embryos with different developmental stages (0-, 7-, and 10-day-old) were loaded on Space Shuttle, Endeavor, and a space experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of zero gravity on their initial development (0-day-old) and calcium metabolism (7- and 10-day-old). The survival rate after 8-day space flight was remarkably low in the 0-day-old embryos. This may result from damaged embryo development and serosa formation by the placental lobe sunk into the albumen because the specific gravity difference between the albumen and vitelus, which is important for embryo development, has no meaning under zero gravity. The effects of zero gravity on the 7- and 10-day-old chick embryos were examined by collecting the tissues after incubation. Histologically observing the results indicates that, at the late incubation stage, skeleton formation may progress under zero gravity. It also indicates that the effects of zero gravity on the muscle system may cause wide and sparse interstitial muscle tissues, increased muscle fibers, and inhibited intracellular microorgan development. Although the Soviet Union and United States joint experiment reported significantly inhibited bone formation in adult rats, this experiment showed normal bone formation and resorption under zero gravity. This is probably because: (1) 7- and 10-day-old chick embryos where bone formation is greater than bone resorption are different from adult animals where bone formation and resorption are not so different; (2) there is no mechanical stress on the bone tissues of 7- and 10-day-old chick embryos because they are floating in the eggs; and (3) the experimental period is shorter than that of the Soviet Union and United States joint experiment. | |||||
