The National Aerospace Laboratory of Japan (NAL) and National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) are conducting research and development work on a reusable space transportation system for the future. Flight experiments were performed to evaluate the autonomous flight and landing system at Christmas Island in the Kiribati Republic from August to December, 2002. The paper describes the general administration of these flight experiments.
