This report describes the formulation of the disturbing motion of a synchronous satellite due to the asphericity of the earth. Accurate and efficient calculations of the ephemeris of a satellite about its primary body are essential with respect to the simulation of orbit control, so gravity potential was considered to the third order, and planetary equations which determine the osculating elements were integrated analytically by successive approximations. These results have been found to simulate the motion of Syncom H to a high degree of accuracy. Since they do not require long computation time, they are very useful for a longtime simulation of station-keeping systems.
