We had promoted the 'Supersonic Research Program' from 1997 to 2007 to establish the advanced technologies for the next generation supersonic transport. In this program, the Jet-Powered Supersonic Experimental Airplane (NEXST-2) project had been planned as a post project of the 'NEXST-1' project. The 'NEXST-2' project started in 2001, however, it was cancelled in 2003 after the failure of the first flight trial of the NEXST-1. This paper describes an overview of the 'NEXST-2' project that we planned in 2001 and some preliminary design results of the NEXST-2 vehicle.
