The development of scientific satellite data archives DARTS at ISAS/JAXA started in 1997 with the aim to archive scientific data of ISAS satellites and provide them to researchers around the world via web-interface search system. Each research field in space science developed and maintained its own DARTS, thus providing the most appropriate archive & search system for that particular group. The development of the '2nd generation' DARTS has started in 2004 for the purpose of building a common foundation for the existing multiple DARTS and future scientific missions.
