Since 2004, one of the 1N thrusters that is used for East-West station keeping and momentum wheel unloading, had indicated lower thrust than that of the others. The thrust degradation is larger than the nominal pace, therefore, we started investigating the cause of the thrust degradation with FTA. We concluded that it is most probable that the thruster nozzle throat is blocked with a catalyst granule, and small catalyst particles which are produced in the catalyst bed are gathered on it, and they narrow the throat and make the thrust small. We conducted the experimental investigation of catalyst granule blockage and particle gathering with a simulated nozzle throat gas flow. Since 2004, one of the 1N thrusters that is used for East-West station keeping and momentum wheel unloading, had indicated lower thrust than that of the others. The thrust degradation is larger than the nominal pace, therefore, we started investigating the cause of the thrust degradation with FTA. We concluded that it is most probable that the thruster nozzle throat is blocked with a catalyst granule, and small catalyst particles which are produced in the catalyst bed are gathered on it, and they narrow the throat and make the thrust small.
