This report describes the studies on the on-orbit system identification and attitude control experiments using ETS-8 (Engineering Test Satellite-8). ETS-8 will be launched by H-2A launch vehicle in fiscal year 2006. ETS-8 has large-scale, flexible structure like Large Deployable Reflector or Solar Array Paddle. Using the result of the on-orbit system identification experiments, we can evaluate the on-orbit flexible characteristic and contribute to the control system design for the next flexible satellite. We aim at the establishment of the robust attitude control technology for flexible satellites through these attitude control experiments.
