This is a study of Bionics; that is an application of lateral connection (LC) mechanism of insect's compound eyes to improvement of imaging sensor. In the presentation, Application of Bionics to Imaging Sensor-1 for 2001 ISAS 11th Workshop on Astrodynamics and Flight Mechanics, the application of LC to imaging system of CCD line sensor was presented. However, for many cases of space exploration and earth observation, imaging systems of CCD area sensor are used. This study is an application of lateral connection mechanism to such an area sensor imager.
