In order to develop power generation from a clean energy source such institute, the Space Solar Power Station (SSPS) has been proposed. Many working groups have been established to make develop and promote the specialized technology for SSPS. One of them has taken charge of the development of the spacetenna (the transmitting antenna of SSPS system). The point of the working group involves realization of a light and multi-functional antenna and transmitter system to provide the clean and low-cost power utility. In order to realize SSPS, some technical problems have to be solved, such as precise beam control and high efficiency of power generation in the spacetenna. As one of the good candidates to solve these problems, an active integrated antenna technique has been selected and considered to combine with a high power electric tube, such as a magnetron. Generally, the generated high power by electric tube is conducted with the antenna by the waveguide. Although the waveguide feed has a good property of low insertion loss as a power divider, it has problems of heavy weight and small beam-steering angle. In order to add the beam-steering function to the waveguide feed, the active integrated amplifier antenna is considered to be combined. The waveguide slot is used to couple the power consisting of the active integrated amplifier antenna with the slot, amplifier and patch antenna. The active integrated amplifier antenna described above was demonstrated by showing its experimental date as well as the design method.
