An impulse test for a thrust stand was conducted and a mathematical model to simulate the main thrust measurement system was presented in order to predict the maximum force acting on the load cell and thrust transient characteristics during rocket motor firing tests. An approximating expression for the maximum force acting on the load cell was obtained from the mathematical model and its results agreed well with experimental values. The prediction of the thrust transient was made by using a mathematical model and four alternative methods, and each of their features and problems was described.
