内容記述 | When lateral linear acceleration (+/- 0.3 G, step-mode) was combined with optokinetic stimulation (40 deg/s), the slow-phase velocity of otolith-ocular reflex (OOR) was simply added to that of optokinetic response when both slow waves were in the 'same' direction, whereas OOR tended to be suppressed when they were in the 'opposite' direction (Space Util. Res. 18: 152-155, 2002). Such relation was well maintained with increase in acceleration from 0.3 to 0.5 G, supporting non-linearity in visual-vestibular interaction. It is known that such combined stimulation often induces motion sickness. Subjects often reported that discomfort was stronger in the 'opposite' phase than in the 'same' phase, suggesting that the motion sickness might be attributable to sensory conflict evoked by the 'opposite' situation and that OOR suppression might be an elementary process for its genesis. On analogy of this assumption, processes for generation and adaptation in space motion sickness were speculated. | |||||
