However, to cover wide range of flight speed in which such vehicle sores up, the propulsion system has to operate in variable modes being efficient for the incoming air conditions. JAXA is proposing the rocket based combined cycle engine for such variable operation and the ejector-jet mode is adopted for low speed regime. The suction performance of ejector-jet has been long studied experimentally and numerically in JAXA, achieving quite few success in explaining the deterioration of suction with high temperature gas or light gas such as helium. In current study, a simple one dimensional model is introduced based on the former models incorporating the mixing effect of the primary (rocket flow) and second flow (induced air flow). The result was compared with several experimental and numerical data to validate the plausibility of the model. The results showed that the mixing of two flows reduces the suction performance, depending the primary flow conditions.
