The rocket was launched in the summer afternoon (Aug.18,1979pm.4h00m) from Kagoshima Space Center. Disitized probe currents are smoothened by a least square fitted curve at each point successively and the second difference of the probe curve is taken. The result shows that a group of superthermal electrons with 0.2 to 0.3eV exists in the E layer below 120km. The mechanism of the generation of such a group of electrons is considered to be due to the collision of thermal electrons with vibrationally excited N_2 and O_2 molecules. The energy distribution in the F layer above 150km exhibits nearly Maxwellian.
