The onset of the re-transition locates upstream of the outlet region where the adverse pressure gradient exists. Detailed measurements using a hot-wire sensor show a definite evidence that prior to appearance of the turbulent spots in the re-transition process the laminar velocity profile has an inflection point. The turbulence intensity of about 3 percent in this unstable boundary layer seems to trigger the rapid re-transition even under the favorable pressure gradient.", "subitem_description_type":
