In the simulator, the structural flexibility of the system is approximated by rigid bodies connected with springs, and the equations of motion of the system are formulated by Newton-Euler equations. As the external force acting on the system, we consider gravity, J(sub 2) term perturbation, solar radiation pressure, and atmospheric force. This numerical simulator calculates the orbital motion, the attitude motion, and the structural flexibility simultaneously. Secondly, we propose a system concept of solar power satellites. In the system, the power generation part is modularized and each module is connected with tethers. The feature of the system is that the passive gravity gradient stability is maintained during construction as well as in the completed system. The initially designed model was unstable because of asymmetric configuration and solar radiation pressure torque. We have redesigned it into the symmetric configuration and successfully obtained a stable configuration.
