Two types of satellites which are proposed by Institute for Unmanned Space Experiment Free Flyer are discussed. From some numerical analysis, it is shown that these satellites are enough stable against air drag, solar pressure and the effect of orbital inclination (30 degrees). Furthermore, a new method is proposed based on potential energy to estimate the stability of satellite. By using the potential energy, not only equilibrium states but also the degree of stability in the neighborhood can be estimated. The potential energy, which is caused by gravitational force and centrifugal force, is considered. At first, the stability about the satellite\u0027s attitude is estimated based on the potential energy. It is shown that stability around yaw axis is extremely lower than the other two axes. Then, the change of stability which depends on the satellite\u0027s shape is shown. From the result, it is confirmed that the stability around yaw axis can be improved by changing the aspect ratio of solar panel, and the aspect ratio has to be over 0.4 to keep the pitch motion
