Numerical simulations were performed about behavior of free surface that caused by heterogeneous surface tension based on the diffusion of ethanol in the water. Motion of condensate droplets was also observed experimentally when water-ethanol mixed vapor was cooling condensed on the chemically modified copper surface covered by a thiol self-assembled monolayer that induced by wettability gradients. In the condensate experiment, it was observed that condensate droplets vibrated and moved toward the low contact angle region on the cooling copper surface and long-term dropwise condensation maintained only with the low ethanol concentration. These experimental results agree with qualitatively the results of the numerical simulations.
