In order to understand mineral abundance of the lunar surface and resulting spectral analysis of the lunar surface, ground-based Lunar VIS/NIR Spectral Imager is developed. The spectral imager can acquire obtain three dimentional spectral and spatial images of the nearside of the moon. The imager is designed for obtaining the spectra of the absorption band around 950 nm, which indicates the contents of mafic minerals. The resolutions of the space and the wavelength are 9 km (VIS) and 20 km (NIR) and 8 nm. Preliminary imaging and data reduction have been conducted in the area of mare Serenitatis and Tranquillitatis. The method of three dimensional spectral imaging can be applied to map the mineral distribution of the entire nearside of the moon.
