An experimental investigation to control a separation-reattachment flow after a forward facing step and a backward facing step is performed. Two different systems are used for the control. One is small plates manipulated by piezo actuators, and the other is a wire oscillated by electromagnetic induction. These systems are capable of controlling the flow along the spanwise direction to oscillate at different phases. Experimental results show that the spanwise phase of the separation-reattachment can be manipulated without increasing flow disturbance using this system.
