          <datacite:description descriptionType="Other">In the present study, the control method by plasma discharge for the flow around a body at a hypersonic speed was experimentally investigated. The flow control with plasma discharge is expected to have an advantage over the conventional method with control surfaces from viewpoints of response delay, peak aerodynamic heating and the increase in the drag. We chose the RPSJA (Ram-air Plasma Synthetic Jet Actuator) method, because of relatively high efficiency even in low density atmosphere due to the air intake in the upstream of the discharge chamber. The model with a diamond-shaped cross section was prepared for the experiment. A straight duct was made connecting the windward surface and leeward one in the longitudinal direction. The holes on the windward and leeward surfaces work as an inlet and an exhaust of RPSJA, respectively. A pair of electrodes were set in the middle of the duct to heat the air flow in it. The experiment was conducted at the UT Kashiwa Hypersonic Wind Tunnel at the freestream Mach number 7. The plasma discharge successfully occurred in a wide range of the attack angles from -10 to +10 degrees. The results of the pitot pressure measurement in the downstream, the schlieren picture, time history of discharge current, and so on are presented.</datacite:description>
