<dc:description>Compaction tests of loamy soils by the method analogous to Proctor's and the simultaneous measurements of electric resistance and the penetration depth of a metallic bar were performed. The metallic bar was supported vertically on the surface of soil and was penetrated by the shock of a falling rammer from a constant height. The well known increase of the density to a maximum, and the decrease of electric resistance to an almost constant minimum when the moisture content increases, are recognized. The penetration depth has also a minimum. The density of soil increases with the compactive effort. The "optimum moisture content" decreases with decreasing rate when compactive effort increases. We analyse the compaction phenomena using the measured quantities which are in close relations to each other.</dc:description>
