REIMEI is a small satellite with 72 kg mass, and is provided with three-axis attitude control capabilities for aurora observation. REIMEI was launched into a nearly sun synchronous polar orbit on August 23rd, 2005 (UT) from Baikonur, Kazakstan by Dnepr rocket. REIMEI satellite functions work satisfactorily in the orbit. The first imaging observations of aurora were successfully performed above the southern polar region in September 16th, 2005., 資料番号: AA0063353006}, pages = {93--98}, publisher = {宇宙航空研究開発機構宇宙科学研究本部, Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA/ISAS)}, title = {小型科学衛星INDEX(れいめい)の打上げと初期成果}, year = {2006} }
