The earthward electric field, E(sub x), is directly related to the auroral acceleration power and the existence of the current sheet. The value of the electric field, E(sub x), is consistent with the theoretically predicted electric field, in the magnetosphere proposed by Podgorny [1992]. To understand the role of the electric field, E(sub x), during the substorm, the effect of the solarwind dynamical pressure to the structure of magnetosphere is investigated by changing the solarwind density while the other parameters are almost kept constant.
