We, therefore, lost any chances to perform the experiment using rats or mice, because JAXA also decided to follow this plan unfortunately. However, we had an opportunity to participate in a space-utilizing experiment organized by Italian Space Agency. Six male C57Bl/10 mice (transgenic for bone study and wild type, n=3 each) were exposed to microgravity on ISS for 3 months, although only 3 mice returned alive to the Earth at November 27, 2009. The samples obtained by Japanese scientists are brain, testis, and various muscles (Ohira, Osaka Univ.), spinal cord (Ishihara, Kyoto Univ.), inner ear (Usami, Shinshu Univ.), and skin with hair (Mukai, JAXA). The same samples will be obtained from the ground controls between February 9 and 12, 2010, at University of Genova, Italy. Further, other ground-based control studies (3-month hindlimb suspension and exposure to 2-G followed by 3-month ambulation recovery) are under going at Osaka University., 共催: 日本学術会議, 著者人数: 14人, joint hosting: The Science Council of Japan, 資料番号: AA0064730082}, publisher = {宇宙航空研究開発機構宇宙科学研究本部, Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)}, title = {哺乳動物および魚類の発育・発達における重力の役割追求研究班報告: イタリア宇宙機関によるmouse drawer system利用の宇宙実験}, volume = {26}, year = {2010} }
