In the present study, we examined whether ethylene is involved in these responses using ethylene-insensitive Arabidopsis mutant ein3-1. Our results revealed that hypergravity significantly inhibited growth of inflorescence stems, and promoted gene expression related to lignin formation in inflorescence stems of wild type. Growth inhibition of inflorescence stems was also observed in ein3-1.
