We found the refractive indices of the Ba(1-x)Lu(x)Ti2O(5+x/2) glasses to exceed 2.1 and to increase with increasing substitution ratio by Lu. This result agrees with the empirical rule that introducing heavy ions in a glass tends to increase the refractive index.
