In order to achieve the containerless processing, it is necessary to establish the levitation technology of molten metal in space under the micro-gravity environment. However, if the levitated droplet is large, the surface of the levitated droplet nonlinearly and dynamically deforms and vibrates in space. In the present working group, nonlinear dynamics of the levitated droplet surface and its internal flow are experimentally and analytically investigated. The levitation experiments with the ultrasonic levitation apparatus and electrostatic levitation apparatus are conducted under the normal gravity condition and micro-gravity condition with aircraft.
