DELTA(X) is expected to range between 10 (exp -7) and 10(exp -11) emu/g according to a recent study based on a model assuming that the individual bonding orbital in the crystal posses constant amount of DELTA(X). Oscillation of a magnetically stable axis of a crystal with respect to a horizontal field is observed for the purpose of detecting small DELTA(X). Effect of a fiber suspending the crystal is omitted in the measurement; restoration torque of the fiber was a standard in measuring DELTA(X) in conventional methods. DELTA(X) above 4 x 10(exp -8) emu/g are obtained from period of oscillation tau' = 2 pi (I /M DELTA(X))(-1/2)B(exp -1), which was induced at a low field of 0.11 T produced by a horseshoe magnet; here popular materials such as biotite, forsterite, graphite, muscovite, talc and urea were observed. Significant oscillation of bulk nonmagnetic crystals has not been observed at such low field intensity as yet. The system is effective to accumulate DELTA(X) values over a immense number of unmeasured materials in various facilities other than magnetic science that do not posses a strong magnetic-field generator. Sensitivity of DELTA(X) is improved considerably by realizing the above oscillation in microgravity where the fiber itself is deleted; oscillations are achieved for calcite, KDP, gypsum, graphite, Rochelle salt and urea at B=1.3T; sensitivity is expected to be improved to 1 x 10(exp -10) emu/g in ground based facilities. High sensitivity is required to detect smaller DELTA(X) values to the level of 10(exp -11) emu/g; this can be done by increasing tau' according to the above equation in an orbital laboratory. The nature of spontaneous moment was recognized long ago by a rotational oscillation of a compass due to terrestrial field, which led to the invention of important magnetic devices.
