Thermo-physical properties of undercooled water show that the maximum undercooling temperature is about - 45 C. However, direct observation of supercooled water at - 45 C has not been succeeded still now. Thus the experimental apparatus for observation of large undercooling of water at near - 45 C has been developed. This apparatus consists of the Radio-Frequency (RF) trap and the cryogenic devices. Using this system, it is possible to levitate micro size water droplet under 0 C. In this experiment, maximum undercooling temperature of water droplet was - 20 C. This temperature was higher than expected value from the results of thermophysical properties measurements. On the basis of the experiment, a new experimental system has been developed to achieve larger undercooling of water droplets.
