Several experiments in the different gravity environment have been carried out to examine a role of gravity in the cells isolated from whole embryo and spicule elongation suppressed in the experiments by centrifugation, clinostat and a series of parabolic flight has been reported. In this study the effect of serum concentration in the culture medium on the sensitivity to hypergravity was examined. Though the culture medium containing 4 percent horse serum is suitable for the spicule formation in the micromere culture, the effect of hypergravity has been shown with various statistical significances. Lower concentration of serum was not enough for full spicule formation by the cultured micromere and the quantity of formed spicule was reduced. But the inhibitory effect of hypergravity was shown more clearly. In this new condition, it seems possible to detect the effect of smaller hypergravity. One of main contents in spicule, calcium, is incorporated from the medium in micromere culture. Higher concentration of calcium recovered spicule formation from the inhibitory effect by the hypergravity.
