It will be launched on 2008 in HTV by H-2A rocket. MAXI has two narrow field-of-views 1.5 x 160 degrees, which scan the whole sky every 90 minutes with the ISS rotation. MAXI has two instruments: gas slit camera (GSC) and solid-state slit camera (SSC). The energy range is 2 to 30 keV (GSC) and 0.5 to 10 keV (SSC). The GSC has a large area and the detection limit with one scan is 7 mCrab (5 sigma), 3 mCrab in one day, and 1 mCrab in one week. MAXI can produce a dynamic catalog of X-ray sky with this depth every week. It can detect AGNs for the first time as an all-sky monitor, as well as galactic objects.
