Behavior of SiC ablations was observed with a video camera By applying neutral-density filters with various transmittances, the emission from a test piece itself and that from gas around it was separated. Ablation properties of weight loss and weight loss rate of SiC were measured. Surface of SiC after the ablation experiments was observed and analyzed by EPMA. In the experiments, carbon was also tested to compare with SiC.
