Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)(ISAS)), Sagamihara, Kanagawa Japan, In this study, to improve the regression rate and the combustion efficiency of hybrid rockets, swirling jets in the combustion chamber are multiplexed and parallelized. Swirling motion adds tangential velocity component to the flow and enhance the heat transfer to the grain. In addition to this, mixing around the central region of the chamber is expected to be enhanced by the interference of each swirling jet. Owing to these flow characteristics, the regression rate and the combustion efficiency will be improved. For the first step, the cold-flow visualizations have been done and the spatial distribution of flow directions has been obtained. From the results of the tests, it is suggested that mixing around the central region of the chamber is enhanced.
