To improve the laser ablative propulsion performance, the absorptance of propellant has to be improved. We investigated the effects of surface structure with dimensions of the same order of a laser wavelength, which was made using Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) technology, on the propulsion performance with respect to momentum coupling coefficient, propellant consumption and specific impulse.
