Atomic oxygen environment in low Earth orbit was simulated by a laser detonation beam source which has been used for spacecraft material degradation studies. 6 km/s atomic oxygen beam was used for producing oxygen plasma with a prototype of ABIE. It was made clear that the pressure needs to form oxygen plasma is in the range of 10(exp -4) Torr which is similar to that in non-energetic Xe propellant. This result suggested that the hyperthermal atomic oxygen influent into the ABIE was thermalized by a collision at an ABIE reflector. Oxygen ion current of 15 mA at acceleration voltage of 200 V provided a thrust of 120 microN. Propellant utilization efficiency was estimated to be 30 - 40 %, but it would be affected by undecomposed oxygen molecules in the beam., 形態: カラー図版あり, 資料番号: AA0064292074}, publisher = {宇宙航空研究開発機構宇宙科学研究本部, Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)}, title = {大気吸込式イオンエンジン(ABIE)に関する実験的研究}, volume = {平成20年度}, year = {2009} }
