The total number of soundings is six. One of the main aim of these soundings was to survey upper-atmospheric meteorological conditions in the same period when stratospheric whole air samplings were conducted using newly developed compact cryogenic air samplers. Another was to investigate stratosphere-troposphere exchange of mass and chemical species, especially, the dehydration processes in the tropical tropopause layer.
