Fundamentally, it does not consume any fuel and the converted specific impulse is infinite. For all these advantages, it has not yet been actually realized owing to some serious technological difficulties. They are the deployment of this large scale structure with steering capability and so on. This paper reports what has been studied at the Solar Sail Working Group (WG) under the Engineering Committee at ISAS.
