The existence of the ocean has been proposed by researches such as the observation of induced magnetic field and the analysis of topography. However, these are not direct ones nor precise ones. In this report we propose a method for directing the subsurface ocean by using high energy cosmic neutrinos. We performed the simulation on detectability of interaction between the neutrinos and icy shell of Europa and recognized that the number of radiations caused by neutrinos depended on the thickness of the icy layer of Europa. We think that this method will be able to determine the thickness of ice and detect the subsurface ocean directly and accurately., 形態: カラー図版あり, Physical characteristics: Original contains color illustrations, 資料番号: AA0065116021}, publisher = {宇宙航空研究開発機構宇宙科学研究所 (JAXA)(ISAS), Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)(ISAS)}, title = {A new method for detecting the subsurface ocean of Europa by using high energy neutrinos}, volume = {43}, year = {2010} }
