Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)), High Definition Television System (HDTV) onboard JAXA's lunar explorer KAGUYA (SELENE) has succeeded in acquiring the clear moving images of Lunar surface and Earth. Due to the characteristics of HDTV such as the oblique view and the sequential data acquisition, HDTV data is potentially applicable to the scientific objectives of the lunar surface science not only to public outreach. The specification and the characteristic of onboard data processing of HDTV that should be considered in utilizing its data for scientific objectives are described and the result of preliminary non-linearity correction is introduced.
